Ontario Food Cluster Applauds Nortera Foods’ $25 Million Expansion, Strengthening Agri-Food Industry in Middlesex County

The Ontario Food Cluster (OFC) is excited to highlight a significant investment milestone with the expansion of Nortera Foods in Strathroy, Ontario. With a $25 million investment, Nortera has increased its production and distribution capacity, reinforcing its position as a leader in the frozen vegetable industry and contributing to the economic strength of the region.

This expansion adds nearly 100,000 square feet of freezer space, bringing the facility’s total to over 340,000 square feet. The increased capacity enables Nortera to process and store more high-quality vegetables sourced from over 200 local farm, further solidifying Ontario’s role as a key player in the global agri-food supply chain. Additionally, the expansion has will grow Nortera’s workforce in Strathroy to 274 employees.

Since its origins as Strathroy Foods in 1983, Nortera has played a vital role in Ontario’s food processing industry, ensuring that fresh, locally grown vegetables are quickly packed and delivered under globally recognized brands like Del Monte. The company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community development aligns with the Ontario Food Cluster’s mission to foster growth and investment in the province’s thriving food and beverage sector.
